My ex-wife used to work as a call-quality monitor. Since I am a ham, she learned the proper 'NATO' phonetic alphabet.

Well, there was a customer service person who used the word 'WHISKEY' while spelling out a word with a 'W'

Management, being very anti-alcohol, wanted to fire this person. My ex-wife told management that they couldn't fire the support person because he used an internationally accepted method of communication to clarify the spelling of a word.

The customer service person thanked my ex, gathered up his things, flipped the bird to his manager and walked out.

Didn't know you were a HAM. Do you still have the equipment and do you still operate it?
I'm guessing cyber space has taken over and HAM is no longer practiced as much as it used to be.
As to what happened at your ex-wife's work place...only proves, we're surrounded by idiots and it seems, they are wining

Yes, indeed I am still a ham. KC7RAD (general class with the 13wmp code), originally licensed as KA9RVK. That was way back when real hams put frying pans on the top of their rigs to make breakfast while chatting with a 9Y or VK2 on 20M with no QRM.

Unfortunately about two years ago I was in a real financial bind and had to sell most of my equipment. I still have an HF antenna and tuner that I will likely keep since I am having no luck selling them.

Cyberspace has indeed taken over a good deal but that leaves more room for the experimenters to hop on the airwaves and experiment.

Idiots, oh yes. You just can't win when you have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

Ride safe!
