If you've been watching the news on CNN or elsewhere and keeping yourself up to date with happenings and stuff, then there's no reason to believe you don't know what's going on...more importantly, you probably think as I do, that our leaders are just assholes who need to be driven out of office...
They sit there in summits, spending millions of your tax dollars to declare...we need to do some different things...loll...
I or you could have issued that very same statement free of charge to the tax payer without any conferences or meetings...get the point?...
No matter what country he/she happenned to live in....the end result is the same....all these guys (World Leaders) need to be fired... (forgive them father for they know not what they are doing)
They are incompetant...they got the world into trouble, they haven't a clue on how to solve the problems they created and they are still calling for more meetings...my question is where is the beef?
It's certainly not being provided by Barak OBAMA, Stepehen Harper, Sarkozy or that Cameron UK, They are all incompetant people who need to be replaced.
So here's my advice to Canadians through this Christmas season...
Remember, the very same applies to your ver own country wherever that is...just substitute the name to your country's name...May GOD keep ya all safe and may he shower you with his blessings always
As the holidays approach, the giant Asian factories are kicking into high gear to provide Canadians with monstrous piles of cheaply produced goods --
Merchandise that has been produced at the expense of Canadian labor. Maybe this year will be different.
Maybe this year Canadians will give the gift of genuine concern for other Canadians.
There is no longer an excuse that, at gift giving time, nothing can be found that is produced by Canadians hands.
Yes there is! It's time to think outside the box, people. Who says a gift needs to fit in a shirt box, wrapped in Chinese produced wrapping paper?
Everyone -- yes EVERYONE gets their hair cut.
How about gift certificates from your local Canadian hair salon or barber?
Gym membership?
It's appropriate for all ages who are thinking about some health improvement.
Who wouldn't appreciate getting their car detailed? Small, Canadian owned detail shops and car washes would love to sell you a gift certificate or a book of gift certificates.
Are you one of those extravagant givers who think nothing of plunking down the dollars on a Chinese made flat-screen?
Perhaps that grateful gift receiver would like his driveway sealed, or lawn mowed for the summer, or driveway plowed all winter, or games at the local golf course. There are a bazillion owner-run restaurants -- all offering gift certificates.
And, if your intended isn't the fancy eatery sort, what about a half dozen breakfasts at the local breakfast joint.
Remember, folks this isn't about big National chains -- this is about supporting your home town Canadian with their financial lives on the line to keep their doors open.
How many people couldn't use an oil change for their car, truck or motorcycle, done at a shop run by the Canadian working guy?
Thinking about a heartfelt gift for mom? Mom would LOVE the services of a local cleaning lady for a day.
My computer could use a tune-up, and I KNOW I can find some young guy who is struggling to get his repair business up and running.
OK, you were looking for something more personal. Local crafts people spin their own wool and knit them into scarves.
They make jewelry, and pottery and beautiful wooden boxes. Plan your holiday outings at local, owner operated restaurants and leave your server a nice tip. And, how about going out to see a play or ballet at your hometown theater.
Musicians need love too, so find a venue showcasing local bands.
Honestly, people, do you REALLY need to buy another ten thousand Chinese lights for the house?
When you buy a five dollar string of lights, about fifty cents stays in the community.
If you have those kinds of bucks to burn, leave the mailman, trash guy or babysitter a nice BIG tip.
You see, Christmas is no longer about draining Canadian pockets so that China can build another glittering city or buy a sumarine
Christmas is now about caring about us, encouraging Canadian small businesses to keep plugging away to follow their dreams. And, when we care about other Canadians, we care about our communities, and the benefits come back to us in ways we couldn't imagine.
THIS is the new Canadian Christmas tradition. This is a revolution of caring about each other, and isn't that what Christmas is about?

well said.
Excellent. This can apply to many western countries, not just Canada, so I share your sentiments. We feel the same way here in the UK as well that way too much is bought into our country from overseas and not enough is made here.
By the way, where have you been? People have been worried about you!

here here baron! Well said!!
amen!
and ps, damn good seeing you my friend! :) xx
Good idea for all of us.
Thanks Baron for a timely reminder. And while the Wall Mart parking lots are already filling up (ironically by many of the same people whose jobs this initiative could save) I'm hoping many, many more will heed this message and make the effort to buy local. I know we will be.
Good to see you back on line Baron.
Words that echo around the western world. The UK's demise started with Maggie Thatcher when she deciced that the UK would become a 'service industry' country. Now so few industries survive. In Nottingham we have lost cycles (Raleigh), tobacco, lace and coal as well.
Rant over and welcome back Baron. Will be in touch soon.

I agree with you on your comment...however, we need to sustain our economies, populations and our well being...
IMPORTS NEED TO STOP
will talk to you soon Bud.
luv ya too baron. big hugs!
Ahhh, you speaketh the words many of us mutter to ourselves. How long do you think we commoners would last if we ran our households the Government way and got away with it time and time again. I think employees should have their own meetings about voting on raises behind closed doors too and then announce to the bosses our decision. I mean, that's how it works here in the states with Politicians.
Good to see ya around again.
Wooley Bugger...thanks for your comment man and yes you are right on this one....I have further concerns such as should new technology releases be strategically controlled in order to contain the economy and employment. For instance...before the personal commputer was invented...every office had at least one secretary/receptionist...now these jobs are forever gone...now you can receive and pay your bills on your smart phone...no more enveloppes, stamps, etc...needed...all those jobs are gone...and whatever other jobs remained were exported to the far east...so the problems we are currently experiencing are here to stay unless we change our ways of doing business...in the end it's all about money
I heartily endorse your concept of supporting local businesses, no matter where you're from or where you live. When small businesses can keep their heads above water, local downtowns and town/city centers continue to thrive and support everyone in the community. Your point is well taken: all you have to do is think of whatever businesses you visit in a year (or what services you need) -- it's always recommended for older gift recipients who would like something other than another coffee mug or shirt that doesn't fit.
