1952 Lambretta 125 D

A classic 1952 Lambretta 125 D...some of the Lambretta story:

Months after the Vespa was launched, in 1947, Innocenti introduced the Lambretta, beginning a rivalry with Vespa.

The scooter was designed by Innocenti, his General Director Giuseppe Lauro and engineer Pierluigi Torre. It debuted in 1947 at the Paris Motor Show.

The Lambretta 'A' went on sale on December 23, 1947 and sold 9,000 units in one year.

It was efficient, 160-180 mpg (miles per gallon) or 68–76 km/litre,[citation needed] at a time when petrol was severely rationed.

It had a top speed of 45 mph (72 km/h) from a fan-cooled engine of 123 cc.

The Lambretta was named after Lambrate, the Milanese neighborhood where the factory stood.

The first Lambretta designs had shaft drive and no rear suspension, later designs used various drive and suspension systems until Lambretta settled on a swingarm-mounted engine with chain drive.

I know very little about mopeds or motorcycles, but I have dated a few bikers.;)
Despite that all these details are lost on me, I do however like the retro look of this one; it come across as almost timeless.
Thank you so much for the kind recent comments full of compliments on my posts.;))

Looks like a sturdy little thing doesn't it?
I hate it when it's only for one person. You know there will be another one sitting there sooner or later lol

That is the neatest looking little scooter! Love it in the olive drab color. I can't believe the fuel mileage it attained!! Do you think there are many of these remaining?

it is sturdy and yes 2 people can ride this thing since it's got power to go...it is a 125cc so plenty of get go to go. This picture may not show a 2 seater but it is available with 2 seats

Beemergirl...thanks for the visit. I like it too in its drab color. Makes it look rugged...the mileage on these was good, but it was also a peppy little machine with plenty of get go to go....
I think they have one at the Lambretta Museum, near Milano, Italy. I doubt very much if there are lots of them around, but I am sure you would be able to find a few still running in Italy where they never throw anything out. I was pleased to see the original Cinque-cento (Fiat 500) on the streets, when I visited Milan a few years back...They were still running and seemed to be in very good shape. I remember for some reason or other, that made me feel good at the time.
