American Airlines may have saved $40,000 but how about the Oliver Grower who is out his new John Deer. Some times you cant win.

That's something. With Alitalia they want just to eliminate....airplanes.

That is incredible and hard to believe almost. That is perhaps why it is so inexpensive to fly with some of the low budged airlines in Europe. They have eliminated food on-board, luggage checks and check-ins. They should be basically free.;)

I had heard about that before, but I thought it was Southwest airlines. It doesn't matter though. Airlines can cut cost by removing something so small such as an olive and the people will not even notice it. I think it's a very smart move on their part. We tend to notice other things such as removing a meal from a flight or charging for blankets and etc.

In Turkey, we have a saying "Damlaya damlaya göl olur", meaning, "Drop by drop, it' will be a lake". This can be a good example for all of us in managing our money and seeing how little amounts of money can add up.

George, Dave and Deb...you'd be surprised what cutting an olive from a meal could end up saving (Over volume)

Rob...yes..you're right...not every battle is going to be won

Italo...Alitalia's got it right

Protege...Airlines in North America are cutting back on everything...meals, luggage check in etc...pretty much like Europe

M. Turkish Cook...service on US and Canadian airlines flying domestic is now minimalistic and non existent...they make you pay for everything
The Turkish saying is so very true...one drop AT THE TIME and we shall take it all away...lol so true

Which one did they eliminate?

PS AA stopped painting their planes some years ago and NWA reduced the thickness of their carpets all in the intersets of burning less fuel.

Ryanair now charge for checking in and they were talking about charging for the loo too...

PS 2

What's this new image about? It's not as "cuddly" as before -:)

Berge, that is certainly true. Some airlines (European) charge even for water. One less olive wouldn't bother me, but I hate it when they remove more significant things and charging for blankets or check-ins.
