A guy here at work has two of those. He loves them both. It is a nice looking bike.

I like the Road King, but this looks like it would much easier to maneuver around town.

Sexy and sleek. Just like you?

Danny Canajun below also has one...I think it is a bike ride.

Baron's Life said...

Lance I have a feeling you are correct, Canajun could probably shed some light on this.

Baron's Life said...

Canajun, I know you can be partial on this but I also know you lie your bro's Road King..It's still a toss up for me

Baron's Life said...

Thom, I'm beginning to like this one as well

Jen, I think you're the sexiest and prettiest of them all

i am a big dyna fan. i would do dual brakes. a workhorse yet comfy and agile. the best of all worlds for many. a hog friend hit 125K miles on his recently with only minor maintenance issues.

mq01, thanks, this is good info for me to know. Keep well and ride safe

Not for me Baron. I'd fall off the back :)

Baron,
It's a tough call. I came to Harleys from Brit bikes, and I found going from a Norton Commando to a bagger was too big a step for me.
On the other hand, my brother moved from a Gold Wing, so he was already familiar with the bulkier feel of long haul tourer.

It also depends on how and where you plan to ride. Lots of highway miles - Road King without question. You can load up the bags, get on, and go - for hour after hour after hour. Very comfortable ride.
Some highway, some twisties (BC mountain roads), and some city riding - Low Rider would be my answer.
I guess it's kind of like deciding whether you want a BMW 3-series or a Cadillac Eldorado. Both fine machines but designed for different purposes.

Baron, can you do the Heritage Softtail Classic next, pretty please????

And don't overlook the Fat Bob - a great Dyna model.

Canajun... That's some great advice and critique there I think you're making my life easier...I like the Road King looks, but the BC mountain riding is the problem...we have some uphill stretches that are fairly long as you obviously seem to know and also riding from Delta to say Banf would require a lot of mountain climbing, I'd need to run this thing on 3rd gear most of the time...which is not something I would relish in doing and you know what good thing you mentioned the Fat Bob, a friend of mine down in Redmond WA has one... I'll have to call him and ask him if I can take it for a short run....good points...thanks man!
ps: except for the maintenance requirements, the Norton Commander was quite a machine...

Lance, only if you're real nice....lol

Subrosa, not if we tied you down...you might enjoy the ride

baron, i concur with canajun.

personally i ride the sierras, the great basin, the mohave, klamath mnts, the rockys, and great lake desert, and i do these rides in my free time, just for fun. there are many plateau's throughout those areas.

i surprised my friends with my softail. they still believe a dyna would be best based on my riding pref's. and i must admit, it is a regret that i did not buy a dyna. but i love my bike and it is most comfy for me on long distances so that is that.

if you love cruising mountains and various terrains give the dynas a serious look.

i hope this helps.

mq01...Thank you so much...you are such a serious rider and I do appreciate your and Canajun's advice. It makes sense... you know it's not that I like riding slopes and cruising mountains...for me to get anywhere from where I am, unless I move, I need to cross mountains and cruise slopes...so I am now getting a pretty clear pictures of what would best suit my needs. Ideally, it would be a Road King fitted with a Dyna power house...but I guess that's not going to happen.
Surprisingly though the Goldwing from Honda does not have the same issues climbing hills... I'm just not a big fan of anything made overseas...so to speak... I refuse to buy a Japanese car. Hey, while I have your attention...what do you think of the Dyna Fat Boy...Canajun said I should not discount it. Your opinion please

some friends love the goldwing and i understand it, they are super comfy and can pull wheelies easily. i personally cant do the goldwing riding position, and i have a passion for hd, but thats just me. and im similar, i dont buy overseas goods if i can help it.

the dyna fat bob, i like them alot. they can be purchased with mid or forward controls, have a good lean angle, are well balanced, have a workhorse engine BUT sold with 6sp now, really hot looks, two headlights which i dig (i like to be well lit). i do not light the handlebars/position, but thats me.

two good friends (that dont know each other) say the fat bob is their next bike. they have rode them and love them. i have heard they feel heavy lifting off the kickstand but is compared to the upright feeling of the sportster. they say they are just waiting on $$$ to buy...

i cant wait to hear...i hope you can demo one soon...

Next time I'm in your neck of the woods, which happens because of business...I will look you up. Luv ya always...ride safe
