That one looks like a posh version of my childhood bike with a motor attached.
Hi Baron,
Back online again, tried to do things properly and put the phone and internet lines in my name, but was just imossible despite two visits to police HQ(They do things strange here)....friendly local to the rescue and I'm hooked up again to cyber World. I had no internet for 10 days, I now understand how difficult withdrawl must be for drug addicts.
Cheers
Dave..
These are coming back in style.
I saw a few people driving them with ga engines. They also have them in electric models.
Amazing how they actually looked like regular bicycles with motors when they started out.
Looks like Ducati was a bit behind the times in '46. By then motorcycles were way beyond bicycle frames with a little motor tucked in the middle.
Looks like H-D stole the design for the Sportster "peanut" tank from them.
Bet it sounded better with that little engine than the baseball cards in my spokes on my bicycle in 1956...Remember doing that? I guess the baseball card/spoke sound gave the Japanese the idea for their future engines..(grin)..(BTW, before I am accused of something,I have nothing against the Japanese)
I love this!!! I want it!!!
Though it looks "special", it is a beauty.
It is a pity they don't make things like that. When I was young, I had a "Mobylette". Something similar to this.
Subrosa, you're right on the money...!
Dave I hear ya brother...welcome back to cyberspace.
A Lady's life...yes, they are coming back...
Mr. Motorcycle...and that's all a motorcycle really is.
Oker, yes you are right...they were a bit (A lot) behind for 1946, They used to manufacture elcetrical stuff before they turned into motorcycle...I took my first ride (When I was 14) on my Dad's 1944 BSA and it was a pretty substantive British Army Bike. Then switched to a matchless...and in the 1960's even tried a JAWA.
I've alwasy been fascinated by motorcycles and scooters...anything on 2 wheels.
JOhn...Funny you shouyld say that I also tried the baseball cards in my bicycle spokes as a kid and I was damn proud of it around the neihgborhood...lol samll world isn't it?
Jen, I know what you mean...I can start a second collection of these things.
Peter, I have seen the mobylettes too. They were wonderful machines.
