The Christmas spirit...Is it Dead or Alive ?...I wonder....

Leafing through the Vancouver Sun on Saturday, I came across an article by columnist Douglas Todd on his interview with apparently 4 people he considered an authority on what Christmas is and what it should be.
I was flabergatsed to read this article and to try & digest the opinions expressed by 3 of the 4 interviewees...It was just plain disgussting and incredilous...!
One of them was a gay gentleman of Jewish extract claiming to be an atheist, one was a Sikh-Canadian, a Chinese-Canadian and a practising Christian. Hardly all experts on the subject.
The jist of it was that except for the Christian participant, not only, none of them gave a hoot about Christmas, but they were plain down rude and obviously ignorant.
Why is it that we have to put up with everybody else's whims and why is it that we have to remain politically correct in order not to offend anybody of different persuasion... and why is it that we have to eat humble pie....!
Their families came to settle in Canada, some of them were born here, in this great country... that gave them food, shelter , prosperity..and perhaps a safe haven from political persecusion... and yet they still behave as if they were in some other country... or as if they had another nationality.
I am not ashamed of celebrating Christmas and will never shy away from doing so... So I say it loud and Clear:
Merry Christmas to all and a Very Happy New Year...
